Data Storage Key Players Developed Industry Growth Path at the Annual PROSTOR Conference
RAIDIX company hosted PROSTOR technological event that took place in Moscow on November 1st. For the 4th time the conference brought together worldwide known specialists in data storage for sharing best practices and elaborating common roadmap.
More than 250 participants, including representatives of state-owned companies and business leaders, hardware manufacturers, software developers, telecom operators and providers, attended PROSTOR conference. 12 presentations in the business part of the event were divided into tree tracks and embraced new hardware components and systems, managing software and newly released studies, as well as use cases and applied projects.
PROSTOR show area was traditionally the main networking and business development spot for conference guests: event partners also successfully used an opportunity to demonstrate new solutions for data storage systems.
The conference highlighted the growing volume of data and new requirements for storage performance: leading manufacturers of hardware components presented new approaches in handling arising challenges. Boris Neimann (Mellanox Technologies) noted increase in traffic over the Ethernet network in a scalable infrastructures. Artem Basikhin (Micron) presented comparison of products for high load systems, as well as SSD for fast reading and data analysis. Promising storage protocols based on Broadcom controllers were introduced by Yaroslav Nadporozhsky.
PROSTOR also opened questions of high-tech development and openness, which is necessary for the growth of professional community. Grigory Nikonov (Western Digital) spoke about the company’s transition to open RISC-V architecture and evolution of storage infrastructure, which will entail major changes in the future. New approach to distributed storage was introduced by Daniel Herman Shmulyan (Excelero): NVMesh technology allowed creation of unified pool of Flash storage that revealed new opportunities in NASA research lab.
Pavel Lavrenko (RSC) presented results of Govorun supercomputer performance tests in Dubna Research Institute. At the moment Govorun is on the 9th place in the IO 500 ranking of the most productive cluster storage systems. Svetlana Lazareva and Sergey Platonov (RAIDIX) spoke about RAIDIX ERA development, software RAID for flash drives, which currently shows the highest industry performance results due to unique computing solutions.
Guests of the conference could get acquainted with hardware products in the presentation by Andrey Sapronov (Netberg) and Dmitry Zotov (Microsemi, a Microship company). Dmitry spoke about components for data centers and presented solutions of SmartRAID family.
Anton Petrochenko (Panasonic Russia) raised issues of data safety and integrity: he spoke about the benefits of freeze-ray technology and all-in-one storage capabilities running by RAIDIX RASP managing software.
